Where the data comes from
Every salary figure is aggregated from three or more sources: government statistical surveys (BLS OES for the US, ONS ASHE for the UK, Eurostat for Europe), public compensation databases (Levels.fyi, Glassdoor), and anonymised data from live job postings in the Jobs and Careers job feed. No single source dominates — we weight and reconcile across all of them.
How often is it updated?
Base data is refreshed monthly. Government surveys (BLS, ONS) update annually, so our figures represent a blend of the latest survey data and real-time job posting signals. Every guide displays its last-updated date. When in doubt, cross-reference with a live offer in your pipeline.
Is this base salary or total comp?
All headline figures are base salary only. Each guide includes a separate total compensation breakdown covering target bonus, equity value, and retirement contributions. Total comp varies significantly by company and stage — base salary is the most comparable figure across employers.
How accurate is this?
